New Avatar Featurette – Human Hardware

November 20th, 2009

This is cool stuff, one of the reasons I love Cameron’s movies is the hardware they use, industrial looking hardware thats robust and believable, in Avatar we will get that in spades. I also get a feeling that it’s a lot like the hardware in Aliens, and that can’t be bad, right?

Avatar almost 3h runtime confirmed

November 18th, 2009

Avatar will have a runtime close to 3 hours according to an interview with composer James Horner.

And speaking of the film’s score, The Reelz Channel did an interview with composer James Horner (which seems to have disappeared from the website?), where Horner talks about his work on the film. During the interview Horner confirmed that the movie’s running time is very close to three hours in length.

James Cameron have always made long movies, Titanic 3h 14m, True Lies 2h 21m, Terminator 2 2h 17m, The Abyss 2h 18m, Aliens 2h 27m, Terminator 1h 48m. A long runtime hopefully means rich character development and a deep story, so this is good news for me at least.

Also, a new French poster has surfaced.

Avatar books out November 24

November 9th, 2009

In a couple of weeks (November 24) you will be able to get your hands on some Avatar related books. There’s a lot of books coming, ranging from the novel  based on the movie to a scrapbook.

The novel I’m definitely not reading before I see the movie, if ever.

Avatar: The Field Guide to Pandora on the other hand, I would like to have a look at.

The Art of Avatar: James Cameron’s Epic Adventure would look nice in my bookshelf :-)

Head over to Amazon to see all the books.

November 5th, 2009

Fox has just released a new international (Japanese) trailer for Avatar that contains some new footage. Most of the footage we’ve seen earlier, but some of it is new. I think I recognize some scenes from the footage that was shown on Avatar Day.
